I'd really appreciate if you spread this around a little or supported what I'm gonna talk about here! I swear to god I won't be a windbag

So a lot of y'all know I do volunteer work at my local library. It's a great place and I've met a lot of awesome people through it and get to do a ton of fun things, plus it provides me and the other volunteers with recommendations and experience that can be used to apply for jobs. The only reason I have this opportunity, though is because the library in my town gets a lot of support from the community!

A lot of public libraries across the country are struggling or being shut down because of budget issues and staffing problems. Most libraries do need donations to stay in operation or even stay up to date but unfortunately a lot of communities aren't willing to donate or support local libraries despite the huge difference having a good public library can make—wifi, children's activities, resources, public meeting spaces, technology training, and all for free or at a very low cost, just name a few things. So there's a blog I heard about from one of the librarians while the other day called Libraries Changed my Life. The goal is to have people share stories about their positive experience with libraries and promote keeping them around.

The blog is here and the facebook page is here. Even if you have nothing to contribute, I'd really appreciate if you could spread this around or find another way to try helping out! Libraries are an amazing resource that need to get more effort put into keeping them around!

As always, have a great weekend c:

A lot of people in our city donated to our library but then, apparently, there eventually was too much money. They had already bought all these new things and whatever. It was weird and unbelievable. All the libraries down where I live are pretty great and well funded o.o
